Spring busyness
It's a busy time of year and we need to focus on self-care

I love spring and my garden is really lovely this time of year. Yet it is a busy time—readying everything for summer—in my case that includes opening the pool, getting the yard in shape, fixing some winter damage, digging out my spring/summer clothes and getting the tires changed. That’s on top of teaching, family events, time with friends and life in general. Not to mention trying to be a better person every day. We tend to busy this time of year -then again when are we not?
I try to focus on one thing at a time--to know that it’s a sometimes marathon and sometimes a sprint (and sometimes a sprint within a marathon). But above all I really try to focus on taking care of myself. I know I cannot pour from an empty cup—so I take the time to ask what do I need right now? Maybe it’s a cup of tea, maybe it’s to take a break, maybe it’s to go to the gym, maybe it’s to just finish this one thing, maybe it’s to let myself leave it until tomorrow or next week or maybe it’s simply to say no. That’s what works for me. Maybe it will work for you too.
So the next time you are feeling overworked or overcommitted ask yourself what do I need most right now and give yourself the gift of self-care.
