Be present--right here; right now

Now is where life happens

I don’t want to miss a moment. They are precious to me. Looking back, I think I was sleep-walking through my life before I found meditation. I was there, going through the motions but not really fully aware and alert to what was going on. My head was full of recriminations for past words, actions and not measuring up. I was upset when my plans turned out differently than I wanted. As a result I was often in the past or the future but not really in now—it was just something to get through so I could get on to the next thing.

Now each moment is more precious. I think I experience them more fully. The good ones, the ones that are not my favourites and the myriad that are just normal every day moments. I try to really be there for all of them and it has made my life more vibrant, joyous and brought much more clarity to everything.

I try to be here most of the time—not lost in the past (it’s done and gone) and not worried about the future (it is not written yet and I don’t control what comes next –there are just too many variables that are beyond my control)—just here in the now.

It’s a pretty wonderful place to be.  In fact it is the only place we can be.
